Patient Accounts Representative

Bilingual or conversational Spanish is preferred. General Summary: Highly motivated individual, with excellent oral and written communication skills, who responds to internal and external inquires in call center environment. Must be detail oriented, with strong problem solving skills, and good listener, to assess and fulfill needs of callers. Must be flexible, able to multi-task, team player, and able to maintain composure in continuously intense environment. General Summary:

The candidate must be detail oriented, possess strong problem solving skills and a good listener to assess/fulfill the needs of our callers. He/she must be flexible, able to multitask, a team player and able to maintain ones composure in a continuously intense environment.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.  Adheres to Mission standards, conducts oneself in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner when handling Customers.  He/she will show respect, compassion, and provide excellent service to all Customers, Co-workers, and Clients. Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):

None.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:       

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Two (2) years of work experience in medical claims processing and reimbursement.  In lieu of 2 years of experience a Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, or related field.
  • Two years of experience with Healthquest preferred Proficiency in electronic billing systems, Microsoft applications (including Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Ability to interpret and work from computer reports and spreadsheets.
  • Experience as a direct point of contact for customers in a call-center environment, or large organization handling general questions and complaints.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical /auditing skills and basic math for reconciliation of accounts
  • Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Laws and HIPPA regulations
  • Knowledge of 3rd party reimbursement regulations with emphasis on Medicare and Medicaid programs
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and/or related healthcare management courses to enable interpretation of clinical documentation and appropriate coding
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist - Institutional (CRCS-I) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist – Professional (CRCS-P) Certification Preferred
  • Bilingual preferred

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)

Reporting Relationship:

Patient Account representatives will report directly to the Patient Accounts Manager(s).
