Manager, HR Reporting


Provides leadership and managerial oversight for Human Resource Reporting function in order to support key Human Resources (HR) objectives and initiatives which contribute to the achievement of Trinity Health’s (TH) Priority Strategic Aims, and which are integral to OneHR efforts. Provides seasoned HR Reporting guidance and takes strategic and operational point on the formation and maintenance of TH standard HR Reporting inventory, dashboards and the construction and use of custom reports. Collaborates with HR, Finance and IT partners to execute Workday strategy. Responsible for effectively managing a team of technical specialists in the delivery of HR reporting services; promotes the use of Workday in maintaining excellence in HR processes, reducing costs and improving the overall colleague experience.

Delivers thought and practice leadership that defines, creates and operates Trinity Health’s (TH) HR Reporting capability; including best in class service standards for delivery, quality, cost, and speed that achieve superior customer satisfaction, innovation and productivity results.

Takes strategic and operational point with stakeholders on the formation and maintenance of TH standards HR reporting inventory and dashboards as well as the proper construction and use of the custom reports.

Recruits, develops, leads, and retains a team of HR reporting specialist in alignment with HR values, strategies and design principles.

Contributes to the development and deployment of TH's HR Technology strategy.

Oversees, monitors and performs Workday core maintenance (e.g., departments, job profiles, supervisory organizations, custom organizations, cost centers, etc.) and mass data loads in Workday (i.e., EIBs).

Supports TIS with Workday updates and testing.

Manages escalated issues with appropriate internal team members and provides timely, accurate and effective resolution.

Assists in creating and reviewing required business process documentation, such as SOPs and BPDs, to ensure proper execution of transactional processes.

Provides assistance and serves as a technical resource supporting special projects/initiatives within HR Operations, as needed, within specific business work streams.

Supports management with strategic development, management and leadership of Workday HCM systems. Collaborates with HR, Finance, and IT business partners at System Office and in the RHMs to create and shepherd Workday strategy in conjunction with overall HR technology strategic direction and other business initiatives.

Serves as a liaison with business users and technical resources to prioritize and configure changes/enhancements to Workday based on business requirements and strategic architecture pan. Works with TIS to plan, coordinate and execute testing efforts for changes impacting Workday.

Promotes the use of Workday within the business by maximizing the capabilities and implementing new features with the goals of maintaining excellence in HR processes, reduce cost and improve the overall colleague experience.

Develops and maintains a solid relationship with HR departments (e.g. Shared Services, Total Rewards, HR Ops, Talent Management and Talent Acquisition), RHMs and HR Business Partners throughout Trinity Health. Provides advice and guidance and identifies roadblocks on Workday functionality relative to reporting. Participates in functional area staff meetings and servers as a consultant resource.

Manages and leads a team of technical specialists in the delivery of HR reporting services.  Mentors, coaches and leads staff by providing performance assessment and feedback and advising on professional development and quality performance.  Provides informal coaching, mentoring and guidance to all team members, as appropriate.

Keeps abreast of Workday functionality and related data source changes to ensure the HR reporting inventory and associated team skills stay current.

Participates in Workday Community training and regional user groups to ensure awareness of current trends and innovation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.


Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of HR Technology. Enterprise applications (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, Lawson) including application configuration, implementations, interrelationships with other systems, as well as strong team leadership as normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Workday experience highly desired.

Experience in project management and at least five (5) years of HR technology experience or equivalent experience in HR or IT. Experience specializing in HR Technology projects, both operational and implementation.

Previous supervisory experience.

Ability to communicate with non-technical leaders and business owners providing a clear understanding of appropriate technology solutions to support and enhance business needs.

Analytical and technical skills needed for translating and analyzing business needs into requirements, configuring system functionality, and driving and delivering projects and initiatives. Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet/database (Excel and Access) skills.

Technical knowledge of Workday EIB, calculated fields, Report Writer, Workday connectors highly desired.

Ability to load, manipulate, audit and report on data and make complex mass changes, conversions or other direct data updates to data. Ability to establish and monitor processes to assess the quality of data and monitor the use of data throughout the organization.

Familiarity with human resources operational workflows and data structures.

Knowledge and understanding of HR laws and skill sets including but not limited to Payroll, Compensation, Performance Management, Succession Planning, Recruiting and Restructuring. Previous work with unionized workforce as plus.

Considerable experience in developing and managing budgets, day-to-day operations and staffing needs.

Outstanding organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills.

Ability to work with cross functional teams to drive projects, gather requirements, provide development estimates and meet expected delivery timelines.

Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently.  Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.  Ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects simultaneously and adapt to interruptions.

Operates in a typical office environment.  The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. 

Communicates frequently, in person and over the phone, with people in all locations on product support issues.  Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities and be able to prioritize and balance the requirements of working with the System Office and Regional Health Ministries (RHMs).

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and concurrently focus on a variety of complex tasks / projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. 

Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites as needed.
