Infection Control Practitioner (Grade 48)

Job Summary:

Responsibilities of the ICP includes:

- participating in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating the hospital wide infection control and prevention program;

- implementing prevention strategies including educating/consulting for staff, physicians and hospital departments;

- performing surveillance and data analysis;

- identifying trends/patterns and managing investigations of infections; and

- maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.


- Bachelors Degree with a Masters in a health related field is preferred

- Clinical experience preferred

- National Certification in Infection Control preferred

- A minimum of 2 years experience in a health related field

The successful candidate will possess strong problem solving skills, proven critical thinking skills and excellent communication skills--verbal and written.  The ICP will be a team player and collaborator, with proven ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.  Must have knowledge of micro-organisms and their relationship to infectious disease and basic concepts of infection control.  A working knowledge and application of microbiology is desirable.  Data management experience and computer skills are desirable.
