In response to COVID-19, Trinity Health is conducting candidate interviews by phone and video until further notice. We have put together some tips below to help potential candidates through the process!

Tips to prepare for a Video or Phone Interview

  1. Test your technology

    • Check your internet connectivity, and confirm your camera and microphone are working.
  2. Practice beforehand with a friend or family member

    • You will gain confidence and improve your skills!
  3. Set the scene and minimize distractions

    • Find a room with optimal lighting, preferably near a window, or a blank wall to minimize distractions.
    • Turn off the TV, silence your cell phone, and close any nearby windows to muffle neighborhood traffic.
  4. Dress for success

    • Business casual is recommended but your attire should mirror what you would wear to an in-person interview (from head to toe)!
  5. Be prepared

    • Research the company and review the job description.
    • Have questions for the hiring manager prepared in advance.
  6. Monitor your body language

    • Sit up straight, smile, and keep the camera at eye level. Keep your focus on the camera when talking, not on the image of the hiring manager.
  7. Speak clearly and slowly

    • Take your time when speaking and enunciate your words. This will make sure that your interviewer can hear and understand you.
  8. Follow up and thank the interviewer via email within 24 hours
